StreamingMedia.com Presents the Best Products of NAB 2015
For the third time, the editors and writers of StreamingMedia.com have scoured the conference halls and booths of NAB to present our awards for the best new products at the show.
The last year has been a strong one for streaming video as our industry enters the mainstream in a big way. Viewers stream their favorite programs and movies from every location, and their expectations have risen. So have ours. This year it was harder than ever to impress us. We saw many tremendously useful and comprehensive video solutions at NAB this year, so it took something more to get our attention—it took innovation.
Here then are our selections for the six best products from NAB 2015. Congratulations to the winners! You triumphed over some impressive competition.
1 Beyond U-Switch: This embeddable video player puts the viewers in the role of the technical director, letting them choose the angles they want to see. It was designed for education markets, allowing students to choose the source, presentation, or PowerPoint they want to see. For producers, the system lets them create a multi-screen experience without camera operators or a technical director.
Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera: This 10-ounce camera delivers raw video for aerial cinematography without the price or weight of the Blackmagic Cinema Camera or Red.
Marshall VAC-11HU3 and VAC-11SU3: These adapters let producers take HDMI or HD-SDI video and feed it to a USB 3.0 port, so they can input high-definition video to laptops and other devices that only have USB 3.0 inputs.
Neon Live: With live video rising in importance, we were impressed by this service which creates constantly updated thumbnail images for live streamed content, letting viewers see what is taking place in the video stream at that moment.
Streambox Drone Encoder Pro: Drones are a hot topic at NAB, and Drone Encoder Pro offers a highly portable and lightweight solution for streaming video from a drone to the internet through the use of mobile technology.
VITEC MGW Ace: Stream HEVC video from the field. This compact H.265/H.264 encoder lets producers compress and deliver low-bandwidth high-definition video from any location.
