"The Guild" and Shira Lazar Clean Up at Inaugural IAWTV Awards

Article Featured Image

LAS VEGAS—Do many award shows need to begin with a video warning winners not to swear on the stage? No, but then no other award show has the baggage of the inaugural IAWTV (International Academy of Web Television) Awards. This successor to the Streamy Awards—which ended amidst controversy in 2010—handed out its first batch of statuettes last night, in a ceremony at the Venetian Hotel during the Consumer Electronics Show.

Produced by Bryan Allen Events, the ceremony managed to announce and deliver all 32 awards in under the two hour running time. The night was free of production numbers, but heavy with inside jokes and technical snafus. While there wasn't any cursing, there also wasn't much for surprises or fun in the briskly moving ceremony.

Big winners of the night included The Guild (5 awards), What's Trending with Shira Lazar (4 awards), and RCVR (3 awards). A full list of nominees, with the winners indicated in bold, is beneath the photo.
