Amlogic and Intertrust Deliver Upgradeable Security for 4K/UHD
ExpressPlay UHD Digital Rights Management (DRM) System Integrated on Amlogic’s System-on-Chip (SoC) Provides Hardware Security for Multimedia Device Makers
Sunnyvale, CA(05 Jun 2015)
Amlogic, a leading fabless semiconductor company providing solutions for advanced consumer products, and Intertrust Technologies Corporation, the inventor of digital rights management (DRM) today announced the availability of ExpressPlay UHD’s robust DRM system on Amlogic’s SoC (System-on-Chip). The Amlogic SoC makes it very easy for Smart TVs, OTT/IP STBs, and other multimedia consumer devices including tablets, to get a secure 4K ready solution.
ExpressPlay UHD supports Marlin DRM, the most widely deployed DRM in China, and deployed on over 300 million devices. It is also compatible with HEVC (high efficiency video coding) multiple video formats including MPEG- DASH, HLS, Smooth, and MP4. Its features include:
- Hardware root of trust. Ensuring the integrity of the software, and secure boot and secure update of the software and firmware. ?
- Secure Video Path. It secures the digital output path for sending video data all the way from the source to the display in a protected, Trusted Execution Environment (TEE).
- HDCP 2.2 compliance. ExpressPlay UHD creates a secure connection between the source and display to transfer content keys and includes a “locality check”.
- Supports forensic and transactional watermarking.
“We chose to integrate ExpressPlay UHD into our SoC because it is a studio approved DRM for displaying UHD/4K content on new devices,” said Vice President, Asia Marketing at Amlogic. “Besides, it offers a secure and updatable media protection solution.”
“By partnering with Amlogic, we are able to offer a ready-to-go, robust DRM System on Chip (SoC) hardware and software components for multiple platforms in high-growth markets such as China,” said Kenny Huang, Intertrust’s Managing Director for Greater China. “This makes it very easy for device makers to build UHD ready devices.” ?
