OZ Announces Global Launch Of Video Content Platform
Los Angeles Creative Community Launch Introduces Future of Content Monetization to Entertainment Industry
LOS ANGELES(10 Apr 2015)
OZ, a Iceland-based company, today launched its proprietary video content platform for global subscription-based video channels. The announcement will be celebrated later today during the OZ Creators World event at the Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles. Content creators are invited to see the new platform now at www.oz.com and by downloading the OZ app in the Apple App Store or on Google Play.
OZ empowers creators by giving them the tools to set up a global subscription channel viewable in 150 countries without setup costs. Creators of all sizes and genres, such as comedians, chefs, book authors, crafting experts, musicians, and more can use the OZ platform to build and access their fans across the globe on mobile and the Web. Creators are able to quickly and easily build their own channel and distribute it through the OZ platform with the freedom to set their own subscription price. OZ handles worldwide distribution. Creators link directly with their fans and receive 70% of the subscription revenues.
Moments- A Unique Platform Feature
One monetization tool exclusive to the OZ platform is a built-in marketing tool called Moments, a built-in driver of growth, offering short video clips with sound derived from subscription content which subscribers generate and share on social media. These "moments" drive new users back to the creator's channel and serve as the channel's free experience. A direct subscription-based relationship between the creator and fan generates a feeling of closeness and exclusivity. Fans share content to social media, market channels and populate the free version of channels so artists can focus on creating awesome content. Additionally, OZ provides exclusive tools to help creators market and manage their brand on a customized channel with their logo and colors.
OZ was created by Gudjon Gudjonsson, a technology executive who has successfully launched several companies and is the author of several granted patents. He founded his first company when he was 17 years old, ultimately selling it to Nokia in 2008. In 2009, Gudjon started the grassroots-initiated Ministry of Ideas, which is a forum for discussion and promotion of innovations in industry, education, economics, and society. The Ministry of Ideas is housed in the House of Ideas, which is home to several start-up companies, a recording studio, and art and design projects. Gudjon led the effort to found the House of Ideas, which is sponsored by the Iceland Academy of the Arts and Reykjavik University.
"OZ was built with the needs of the creative community in mind—better monetization opportunities, more easy-to-use tools to help individuals stand out from the crowd, all in a platform that is extremely unique in its look and feel," said Gudjonsson. "We are quickly growing in awareness and feel confident that creators based in the U.S. will see the appeal in what we are offering that is a complement to current established platforms."
Fuel TV will be one of OZ's first institutional customers to establish a dedicated channel on the newly launched platform. Fuel will re-establish itself as the leader in a network dedicated to extreme sports. In addition to Fuel TV, OZ will launch with a number of unique channels, created by bands, filmmakers, writers, chefs, athletes, comedians, musicians and how-to experts.
The creative community is invited to join OZ on April 9, 2015 for the OZ Creators World event at the Theatre at Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles where the company will present the opportunities OZ offers creators of video content of all sizes and genres. The unique event will also feature a sample of creators already on the platform including Samaris, Retro Stefson, GusGus and other special guests.
