Los Angeles, CA(02 Nov 2010)

Qumu, Inc., a proven innovator in streaming media solutions for the enterprise, announced today the new Qumu Mobility Solution (QMS) - a single enterprise platform for delivering live and on-demand streaming video to desktop, digital signage and now mobile solutions.  The solution consists of content management and delivery, native applications for mobile devices, and a service for tailoring applications to fit specific enterprise needs.  This announcement makes Qumu the first and only enterprise video platform that can successfully manage and deliver video to desktop, digital signage and mobile devices across corporate and Internet-based networks.  The new mobility solution is demonstrated at Qumu's Booth #33 at Streaming Media West November 2 and 3, 2010, and includes the following solutions:

Qumu Mobility Engine (QME) ingests video content, prepares content for adaptive HTTP streaming to mobile devices and serves video content in both live and on-demand formats using Internet based content delivery networks.

Qumu Mobility Application (QMA) is a set of native applications that delivers enterprise-class video to a host of devices, including Apple iPhone & iPad, Google Android smart phones and tablets, as well as Blackberry mobile devices.  QMA also meets stringent requirements for enterprise mobility, affording controlled and secure access to important video content available anywhere through Wi-Fi and 3G/4G networks.

These native mobile applications include the ability to search, play back and even upload video content from servers resident behind the firewall.  Full DRM and HTTP adaptive bit-rate streaming adjusts to network conditions found in 3G/4G and Wi-Fi connections, affording best possible quality delivery without user intervention.   Native applications not only allow users to perform advanced functions using native touch capabilities, but they also enable IT departments to fully manage and deliver content while providing an engaging platform for social collaboration in the enterprise using video.

The Qumu mobile app will be made available through the application markets for each respective mobile device.  Qumu professional services will be available to tailor the Mobility Application - including skinning, branding, and screen design - giving enterprises the ability to create a highly adaptable personal viewing experience designed around customized business objectives.

"Qumu has a proven track record in delivering industry firsts for enterprise customers.  We are delighted to be the first enterprise platform provider to deliver streaming video to the new class of mobile devices" said Ray Hood, Chief Executive Officer of Qumu. "Adoption of mobile devices capable of engaging employees with streaming video is opening up new opportunities for our customers to reduce cycle time, speed communications, and document business processes in ways that can improve their bottom lines."

Vertical Applications

Mobile streaming video is becoming increasingly important for many vertical industries, making communication processes and knowledge dissemination useful and important productivity improvements.  For example, field insurance agents can use their mobile devices to document automobile or home damage for insurance claims, and then automatically upload video for review and approval by headquarters, dramatically speeding time to resolution, payment and repair.  Remote Medical diagnosis can be an additional discovery point for training or diagnostics purposes.  In addition, field service reps can document or communicate work processes such as stocking problems, spoilage, manufacturing process or mechanical breakdown to headquarters or other personnel for additional resource and assistance.  New product training, company information, important pricing changes can easily be communicated to far flung field resources using mobile streaming technology.  Live video webcasts can reach broader corporate, partner and customer audiences with mobile streaming solutions at far less cost than traditional methods

Pricing and Availability

QMS and related products will be available in limited release in Q1 2011, and full release in 1H 2011.  Pricing details will be announced with product releases.
