Sonic Foundry Unveils Mediasite Join, SaaS Videoconference Capture Solution

Appliance-free, cloud-based recording, management and search extends reach and value of any videoconference

Madison, Wisconsin(31 Mar 2015)

Sonic Foundry, Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), the trusted global leader for video creation and management solutions, today unveiled Mediasite Join, a cloud-based videoconference capture solution that automatically transforms video calls and meetings into engaging, searchable on-demand video.

Users simply add Mediasite Join as a participant to their videoconferences, and the service automatically records everything said and shown. It then transcodes, indexes and publishes recorded videoconferences to Mediasite alongside all their other video assets.

“Sonic Foundry has enriched an already robust on-demand solution set with Mediasite Join, and this timely move points to the burgeoning intersection of real-time and on demand collaboration in the video conferencing corner of the market,” said Alan D. Greenberg, senior analyst and partner, Wainhouse Research. “The ‘intelligent’ features Sonic Foundry has bundled into Mediasite Join will make this cloud-based service highly desirable for the growing set of enterprises that wish to repurpose videoconferences – particularly those interested in viewing videoconferences on PCs and mobile devices and those needing Mediasite’s publishing, search and navigation options.’”

Mediasite Join, supporting Cisco, Polycom, TANDBERG and Lifesize, expands the capabilities of existing videoconference systems:
• Interactive, Dual-Stream Content: Record multi-point H.323 conferences with synchronized H.239 content; incorporate polls, bookmarks, sharing, related links and more
• Intelligent Publishing: Auto-publish, organize and deliver conference recordings with Mediasite Showcase, a secure enterprise YouTube
• Video Search and Navigation: Auto-scan and index all audio, video and slide text for powerful in-video search
• Powerful Analytics: See who is watching, when and how long to measure impact and reach of conference recordings

“As video increasingly becomes the cornerstone of today’s collaborative workplace, it’s now essential to be able to pinpoint and reference critical information from meetings and collaborations. Mediasite Join automates the capture of collaborative content like videoconferences, providing a rich searchable record of any meeting it is part of,” said Gary Weis, CEO of Sonic Foundry. “The evolution of Mediasite is driven by our vision of creating a more knowledgeable and connected world, and we will continue to innovate technology that helps organizations realize the value of video.”
