Blackmagic Design today announced that the Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement uses Blackmagic Studio Camera HDs, ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K and HyperDeck Studio Pros to capture and stream all of its live productions and video archiving.
Located in the historic Las Vegas Federal Building, The Mob Museum shows both sides of the longstanding conflict between organized crime and law enforcement around the world. It includes a more than 800 historical artifacts and interactive exhibits, including interviews and footage from some of the most important figures in Mob history.
In addition to exhibits, the Museum hosts Courtroom Conversations, featuring eye opening and provocative discussions about topics related to organized crime, law enforcement and other public affairs issues, as well as numerous author talks, themed events and more throughout the year. Its programs take place inside the Museum’s historic courtroom, which has been outfitted with contemporary presentation technology, and are streamed via its website to Mob history enthusiasts around the world.
To capture and produce these videos, the Museum uses several Blackmagic Studio Camera HD broadcast cameras, connected to an ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K for switching and graphics inclusion, with final recording done using a HyperDeck Studio Pro SSD broadcast deck.
“We are a museum always working to be interactive as well as fun, and offering live events and interviews with amazing figures from both sides of Mob history keeps visitors coming back and following us from their homes,” said Ryan Markus, information technology officer, The Mob Museum. “We capture everything from one on one interviews to panels in front of a live audience. Blackmagic is a huge part of making this happen.”
“We use Blackmagic cameras and the broadcast rack we built with the ATEM and HyperDeck for all our productions,” he continued. “Because the cameras are so easy to learn how to use, we can put almost anyone on our staff behind them, capturing footage that is switched through the ATEM and then sent to the HyperDeck. From there, we send it over LiveStream. It’s that simple.”
