Viddler Enhances Support for Adobe DPS
Businesses and publishers can conveniently add video to their tablet and smartphone apps
Bethlehem(20 May 2014)
Interactive media developer Viddler has announced enhanced support for Adobe Systems’ Digital Publishing Suite (DPS). Viddler account holders now have the ability to easily incorporate video content in native apps for tablets and smartphones. Connected DPS app users can play video without the burden of large file sizes and long download times.
Adobe DPS provides businesses, organizations, and magazine publishers with the ability to create their own apps for iOS, Android, and Windows devices, using InDesign pages and HTML articles with interactive overlays. Embedded video files typically result in very large app sizes, which are difficult to download and store. Viddler’s embed code for Adobe DPS automatically places the video thumbnail on the InDesign page, and results in a content app that is smaller and more efficient.
“For those who create their own apps, DPS is a popular option, but video can be a problem,” according to Viddler’s VP of Product Management, Carrie Strohl. “Our embed code takes the guesswork out of the DPS workflow. Apps created with Viddler and DPS are much easier to download and use. We also offer secure video delivery and analytics that businesses and publishers need.”
Viddler’s current offering creates HTML code specifically tailored to DPS. Here is an example iPad app created with Adobe DPS and Viddler's DPS video embed code. Viddler also plans to enhance the video experience for DPS and other app creation systems, as well as browser-based publishing environments for mobile devices.
