The Challenge:

The Software Engineer will provide technical leadership and also actively 
contribute to the definition, development, integration, test, documentation 
and support of custom software applications, across multiple platforms. 
This hands-on position requires broad engineering competence and in-depth 
technical knowledge of web application software development, as well as 
demonstrated experience successfully planning, organizing and executing 
software development projects in a dynamic environment. 

The Task:

Responsible for the architecture of software solutions, determine current 
limitations and compatibilities between subsystems, selection of new 
concepts and methodology, development of major routines and utilities, 
preparation of technical requirements, and software design specifications. 


Required Qualifications: 

* Five+ years (or internships) software development engineering experience 

* Superior design and architecture knowledge, as well as familiarity with 
object oriented design patterns, C/C++, Java, web server / service 
development 
* Experience with high-scale, distributed data storage technology (RDBMS, 
Key/Value Stores, Directory Services) 
*Experience with high-scale, distributed web service development (hands-on 
experience with RESTful web services and/or SOAP, squid, memcached, 
Atom/AtomPub) 
* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, Masters Degree 
a plus 

Desired Qualifications: 

* Experience designing and implementing carrier-grade identity management, 
authorization and access control systems 
* Experience designing and implementing carrier-grade user data storage 
and retrieval systems 
* UNIX/Linux background 
* Comfort with one or more scripting languages (Python/Groovy/Bash, etc.) 

* Expertise in Lucene
* Experience / familiarity with current trends and technologies around 
the social web, etc.)
* Exceptional interpersonal communication skills: verbal, written, 
listening, including customer relationships
