Senior Software Engineer, XRE Core Services

The Challenge:

The Senior Software Engineer will provide technical leadership and also 
actively contribute to the design, development, integration, test, 
documentation and support of custom internet based software applications. 
This hands-on position requires broad engineering competence and in-depth 
technical knowledge of web application software development (and specifically, 
large scale web server applications), as well as demonstrated experience 
successfully planning, organizing and executing software development 
projects in a dynamic environment.

The Task:

* Architect core server components of the XRE application, including the 
main server components of the application “shell” and video player controls 

* Determine current limitations and compatibilities between subsystems
* Identify and select new design patterns and methodologies
* Develop major algorithms, routines, and utilities
* Prepare technical requirements and software design specifications

Required Qualifications:

* Five+ software development engineering experience in a video processing 
and/or gaming environment
* Three+ years server-side development for large-scale internet applications
* 
Demonstrated expertise in Internet applications, networking (TCP/IP), and 
operating systems, object oriented design patterns
* Detailed development experience with Java and web server development
* Detailed working knowledge of messaging, remoting, RPCs, DOM, JSON, 
SOAP AND/OR AJAX 

Preferred Qualifications:

* Detailed development experience with one or more of the following: 
embedded Linux, C/C++, DHTML, Flash, DLNA, and Silverlight or similar video 
application environment
* Working familiarity with DRM or encryption technologies
* Exceptional interpersonal communication skills:  oral, written, and 
listening, including customer relationships Exceptional interpersonal

relationships
* Embedded UI/RIA framework experience (Gnome/KDE/Qt preferred)
* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, Masters Degree 
a plus
