San Francisco (October 20, 2009) -
Episodic, Inc., provider of the most comprehensive online video platform, today announced the general availability of the Episodic Video Publishing Suite to serve the growing market of content owners and web marketers who broadcast both live and on-demand streaming video. Episodic is the first video platform to manage and monetize both live and on-demand video streaming from a single application, providing producers with the flexibility necessary to succeed in the era of pervasive video delivered simultaneously to the web and handheld devices. The Episodic Publishing Suite provides the tools necessary to manage and measure video content, as well as monetization services that enable ad insertion and credit card transactions for both live and on-demand video streaming. Episodic also announced the launch of a 30-day free trial program, providing content producers a first-hand experience of the new online video platform.
Already in use by national cable networks, web publishers, and small and medium businesses, the Episodic platform spans the entire video value chain and provides all the tools necessary to deliver online video via an intuitive easy to use interface.
“Video monetization and delivery on the web and mobile devices have just begun to mature and it’s time for a platform that can keep up,” said Noam Lovinsky, CEO of Episodic. “The days of prolonged deployment cycles and endless professional services are behind us. With Episodic it’s all out of the box and it just works. Customers want a platform that is easy to use, quick to deploy and contains all of the capabilities needed for online streaming without having to wrangle four different vendors.”
The Episodic publishing suite is made up of five functional areas, providing a turn-key solution which requires little to no customization and can be deployed in days.
- Video Content Management: Episodic is designed to scale massive video libraries, allowing content owners to easily encode and organize their video from an intuitive interface. Publishers may setup custom metadata fields, generate auto-updating query-based playlists or feeds and easily keep everything synchronized across Episodic and their video asset management and storage systems.
- Adaptive Bitrate Playback: The Episodic video player, built for the web and mobile devices, delivers a television-like experience without any additional software or plugins required.
- Monetization: The VAST compliant Episodic ad server delivers standard IAB video ad units and is interoperable with all major ad serving platforms. In addition to ad serving, Episodic’s subscription management and a credit card authorization system allows for new revenue opportunities for video publishers and producers.
- Audience Measurement: The Episodic analytics engine provides real-time metrics and reporting around audience engagement, viewer performance, network quality and the quality of the overall viewing experience. Quality of service metrics help publishers maintain a superior viewing experience by reporting metrics like average viewer bandwidth, average number of skips and stutters, player load times and even content delivery latency.
- Syndication: Episodic offers automated distribution to over 30 video portals and premium syndication to paid destinations like Hulu, iTunes and Amazon.
Showtime Networks and other leading national content providers have already embraced Episodic’s best of breed technology.
“Episodic has been a valuable partner in Showtime’s online video initiatives,” said Nicole Meola, Senior Director of Digital Content Development at Showtime Networks. “What started as a trial production has now grown into a potential revenue source for us with the use of the tools provided by the Episodic platform. With Episodic, we launched and syndicated our commerce-supported live streaming events and will continue to broadcast these events worldwide.”
