Elemental Accelerator Release 2.2 Adds Multi-GPU Support To Further Boost Video Encoding Speed

Latest Release Also Expands Support for NVIDIA’s Quadro FX Professional Graphics Solutions, Extending Reach on Desktop and Mobile Workstations

Portland, OR (October 27, 2009) -

Elemental Technologies, the leading provider of massively parallel video processing solutions, today announced the release of Elemental Accelerator version 2.2, a significant product update that adds support for multiple GPUs, enhancing speed and throughput for video encoding. With this release, Elemental Accelerator also provides expanded support for NVIDIA Quadro FX GPUs, making the product available to creative professionals on more platforms than ever before.

Elemental Accelerator is a plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 designed to work with NVIDIA Quadro FX graphics processing units (GPUs) to radically speed up the processing and delivery of high-quality H.264 and MPEG-2 video files. Powered by NVIDIA’s CUDA platform, Elemental Accelerator speeds the video processing workflow end-to-end at a lower total solution cost than conventional CPU-only or specialized hardware encoding solutions.

“This release expands the audience for Elemental Accelerator not only to video professionals who run high-end multi-GPU systems, but also supplies mobile workstations users a powerful encoding solution,” said Andy Beach, VP of marketing at Elemental Technologies. “As video compression becomes increasingly integral to any creative workflow, Elemental Accelerator lets creative professionals spend more time on work, and less time waiting for video to process.”

With the ability to leverage multiple NVIDIA Quadro FX GPUs, release 2.2 offers an even greater performance boost than was available in prior releases. Multi-GPU functionality efficiently divides the encoding workload among all supported GPUs in a system, increasing overall export speed and performance. With a single GPU, release 2.2 can render and encode 1080p or 1080i AVCHD video streams for Blu-ray, DVD or web-based delivery in real time. When multiple GPUs are used, Elemental Accelerator can deliver files in faster than real time with an additional 50-70% encoding performance increase.

In addition to offering support for multiple GPUs, Elemental Accelerator 2.2 nearly doubles the number of previously supported NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics solutions. Release 2.2 offers support for the Quadro CX and the latest generation of Quadro FX offerings and adds support for the popular Quadro FX 3700 graphics card and Quadro FX 3800M, 2800M, and 1800M GPUs for mobile platforms.

Elemental Accelerator is available bundled with the latest generation of NVIDIA Quadro FX graphics cards from a variety of resellers or can be purchased as a standalone package directly from NVIDIA at www.nvidia.com/adobeplugins. Release 2.2 is available as a free upgrade to existing customers.
