Magnify.net Multi-Source Video Drives Dramatic Growth at NYMag.com

New York, NY (October 29, 2009) -

Magnify.net reported today that after six months of powering all video for New York Magazine, the site has seen a dramatic 150% boost in total video traffic. The numbers provide solid evidence that consumer publications who embraced multi-source video are seeing significant increases in traffic and ROI as a result.

New York Magazine, who switched from video platform The Feedroom to Magnify.net in the spring of 2009 has fully adopted the Magnify multi-source solution, doubling the number of videos offered on NYMag.com since the transition.

Said NYMag.com General Manager Michael Silberman of the growth: "The added traffic comes from two-sources, the first is the increased video views created by adding discovered video to the site, which accounts for 40% of video plays. The second source of traffic is from NYMag produced videos; this is the hidden benefit of Magnify's platform - that in fact creates significant and measurable value. NYMag produced videos saw an average of 43% more plays each month than with their previous vendor."

With the vast majority of the new videos curated from across the web using the Magnify.net video aggregation tools, NYMag has not only increased their video library and traffic, but importantly has also seen a 43% increase in video plays for in-house produced content. The high numbers are proof that using a mix of contextual video from 3rd party sources in conjunction with in-house produced content not only drives video traffic, but increases traffic through out the site.

"The question that publications have always asked is ‘will adding curation reduce the number of views of my high-quality video'" said Magnify.net CEO Steven Rosenbaum.  "Now we know the answer. A rising tide lifts all boats. Adding aggregated and curated video increases views of all video, and increases pre-roll inventory as well."
