David has been at AOL since April 2000, originally as Chief Architect for the AOL client. In 2003, David joined the Digital Media Services team, architecting the platform being developed to support bringing AOL's media services to "non-traditional" clients, such as network-connected, mobile and portable devices, and entertainment PCs such as Windows XP Media Center Edition. With AOL's major reorganization in Dec. 2004, the Digital Media Services team added responsibility for AOL's subscription music service (MusicNet@AOL) and nascent video subscription service. David moved to the position of Technical Advisor for the SVP of Premium & Subscription Services, which encompasses Digital Media Services as well as other businesses such as Security & Computing, Educational Products, and Alternative Broadband. Prior to joining AOL, David spent 5 years at AT&T Bell Laboratories developing software for the Definity series of PBX's, and then spent six years at two local Virginia startups, developing tools for software developers. While at Bell Labs, David was co-founder of XFree86, one of the cornerstone projects of the Open Source era. David has Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis, and is currently enrolled in the Executive MBA program at the University of Maryland Robert H. Smith School of Business.
