Monty Mullig is senior vice president, digital media technologies, for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. He is responsible for the technology behind Turner’s family of Web sites, including content management and publishing systems, interactive Web applications, e-commerce, ad serving, multi-media production systems and content distribution to the Internet.
Mullig is based at Turner’s world headquarters in Atlanta and reports to Scott Teissler, executive vice president and chief technology officer for CNN and TBS.
Turner’s digital properties include CNN.com, CNNMoney.com, Nascar.com, CartoonNetwork.com, PGA.com and PGATour.com, Superdeluxe and Gametap. Turner’s Digital Media Technology group also provides technical infrastructure for SportsIllustrated.com and HBO.com. Mullig’s team is also responsible for CNN’s broadcast video production systems development, including Media Asset Management (MAM) and archive systems.
Formerly TBS’s director of software infrastructure, Mullig designed and implemented TBS’s and CNN’s Internet content distribution systems. He also oversaw the technical teams responsible for Turner’s global e-mail and scheduling systems, corporate database management systems, global network management system and network security and Internet access policies.
Mullig joined TBS in April 1994 as manager of the advanced technology group, where he introduced the company's first connections to the Internet.
Before joining TBS, Mullig was the director of management of information sciences at the University of Chicago’s Biological Sciences Division and the Pritzker School of Medicine. Mullig studied economics at the University of Chicago.
