Nick Brookins is VP of Software Development at Hulu, where he leads platform services and infrastructure including the content pipelines that ingest, process, and deliver the Hulu experience to its viewers. Nick has 25+ years of software development and leadership experience, most spent in the media engineering space. Prior to Hulu, Nick was Chief Architect and VP of Software Development at SmartDrive, a massively distributed vehicle-based video platform. Nick also previously led media services engineering at Akamai Technologies for nine years, overseeing innovations in adaptive bitrate streaming, video encoding, packaging, protection, delivery, playback, and quality-of-service. In his spare time, Nick designs and builds DIY prosthetics, plays guitar, and enjoys time in the outdoors with his family in southern California.
