West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, California recently partnered with Adorama Business Solutions, the premier technology resource for corporate, educational, and government institutions, to outfit a new classroom studio space for the Creative Arts Department. When the Visual Arts program doubled in size over the past year, the department needed to expand its teaching spaces and create a studio to equip different areas of learning, including video production and editing. The challenge for the Creative Arts Department was to purchase equipment that offers the most flexibility in use, while designing a space that replicates a workplace to offer students a realistic environment in which to learn industry tools and skills. With the help of Adorama’s technical expertise and strong manufacturer relationships, the department was able to select the best equipment that can be used for both broadcasting and production. Products included: Blackmagic Design Ultra Studio 4K Extreme 3, Blackmagic Design SmartScopes Duo 4K, Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio 12G, Blackmagic Design MultiDock 10G, Blackmagic Design SmartView 4K, Sennheiser MKE 600 Shotgun microphone, BenQ 4K HDR IPS photo and video editing monitor, and more.
To further ensure flexibility of use, all the equipment purchased was placed on wheels so it can be reconfigured in minutes between class periods. Additionally, the editing bay is battery powered so that it can be completely relocated, maximizing valuable teaching time and space. With the new flexible lab workspace, students can customize the equipment set-up specifically to their needs, capture footage and edit projects all in the same place.
The new classroom studio space with equipment from Adorama Business Solutions takes the Creative Arts Department to the next level. Not only does it allow the department to offer new courses around all areas of production, including classes in lighting and interview techniques, it also creates the opportunity for extracurricular activities like a filmmaker’s club. By offering content which is in demand in the Worship technology industry, students have a chance to learn skills that are desirable for future careers, supporting the school’s mission of equipping future ministry leaders to inspire, innovate, and influence.
“The Adorama Business Solutions team has been a tremendous help leveraging industry connections to provide solutions for a unique educational studio space for our department,” said Keenan Sultanik, Creative Arts Department Chair at West Coast Baptist College. “It has been wonderful to work alongside their professional yet personal team, and I look forward to the next opportunity to do so!”
