Epiphan Rolls Out Free Firmware Upgrade to its Video Streaming and Recording Devices
New firmware upgrade enables Epiphan devices to encode audio/video content in RTMP, the protocol of choice for many major content delivery networks

Epiphan Systems announced a major firmware update for all of its video streaming and recording devices that enables them to encode audio/video content in RTMP, the protocol of choice for many major content delivery networks. Previously Epiphan devices supported RTSP, FLV, ASF, and MPEG, but not RTMP. This new firmware release, available via free download, adds RTMP to the set of supported protocols.
“This enhancement vastly expands the utility and appeal of Epiphan video streaming and recording products, said David Kirk, Epiphan vice president of product marketing. “We have many thousands of customers, including end-users, resellers, and systems integrators, who will benefit from this upgrade.Epiphan’s broadcasters and recorders all employ Epiphan’s video capture technology for use with one or more computers, cameras, video players, and other analog and digital audio/video sources. Epiphan makes devices to capture, stream, and record video in resolutions up to 2048x2048 and frame rates as high as 80 frames per second.
