VideoBlocks Unveils 'Industry-First' 2D and 3D VR Content in Unlimited Library

Members will be able to preview the fully stitched and ready-for-download videos in a full 360-degree sphere, through a player on the VideoBlocks website

VideoBlocks, the first membership-based provider of stock video, today announced the launch of the industry’s first 2D and 3D virtual reality, 360-degree video content for the mass creative class and creators around the world. The newly launched content will be available in VideoBlocks’ Unlimited Library and contributor-friendly marketplace. Members will be able to experience the videos in a full 360-degree sphere, through a player on the VideoBlocks website. The footage has been fully stitched together and ready for download and use by the ever-growing mass creative class, from hobbyists to professionals alike.

VideoBlocks was the first to make 4K stock video accessible to the mass market seven years ago, before any industry powerhouses got on board. With this new extension into the world of virtual reality, VideoBlocks now provides an avenue for contributors of all capacities to upload a variety of 360 degree video, including both monoscopic and stereoscopic 3D video clips, to be sold on the VideoBlocks marketplace. The VideoBlocks team is also producing its own high impact original 3D stereoscopic 360-degree footage, for release in the unlimited library.

“We’re doing with virtual reality what we did with 4K seven years ago, and we’re doing it at an affordable and fair price that benefits the entire ecosystem, on all levels,” said Joel Holland, Founder and Executive Chairman of VideoBlocks. “The stock media and video production industries are continuing to evolve every day, and with this addition, VideoBlocks continues to be at the forefront of the industry as a trusted platform for the mass creative class to explore new ways of creating, which in this case, is virtual reality.”

Consistent with past expansions to the company’s marketplace, contributors will receive 100% commission on all of the footage they sell through VideoBlocks. The cost is $399 per clip for 360 degree monoscopic footage and $499 per clip for 360 3D stereoscopic content. This puts the buying power of virtual reality content in the hands of over 130,000 VideoBlocks members. Since launching the VideoBlocks Marketplace one year ago, the team reached over 1.5 million clips and paid out over $2M in commission to their artists.

To jump start VideoBlocks’ launch into VR stock footage, the team is partnering with VR industry leaders Ovrture, OFFHOLLYWOOD, Atmosphaeres, DeepVR, Subvrsive and 360Labs. These partners will provide a wide variety of VR content at launch, from cities around the world, to African Wildlife and outer space.
