Review: NewBlueFX Titler Live 4 Complete
Titler Live Complete 4 is a very powerful on-air graphics solution that is surprisingly affordable, easy to use, and easy to connect with several video switchers and data sources.
Dropping Frames
At one point in my testing, I noticed in vMix that my Titler Live feed was dropping frames. At first, I thought this had something to do with me changing my output to 1080/60p, which required me to manually select values in the project settings because 1080/60i and 1080/30p were the closest preset options presented.
It turns out that, at some point, my Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming laptop decided to use the on-board HD Graphics 630 GPU instead of its much more powerful, discrete NVIDIA GTX 1060 Max-Q GPU (Figure 6, below). Maybe this had something do to with the fact that I was on battery power. But connecting the power supply and rebooting didn’t fix the issue.

I ended up finding a fix by changing the program settings in the NVIDIA control panel to force Titler Live to use the high-performance NVIDIA processor (Figure 7, below) instead of the default setting of auto-select. This allowed my laptop to choose whether to use the integrated graphics card or the discrete graphics card.

Live Social Media Feeds
Connecting Titler Live with Facebook (profile), Facebook Live, Twitter, and YouTube is very easy thanks to an API integration. You can then use the comments or poll results to populate graphics and take them live.
I was wasn’t able to get the number of Facebook Likes in an actual post to populate the Like number in the graphic, although I was able to manually set the template to display any fixed number that I wanted. In addition, I was only able to connect my personal Facebook profile but not my business Facebook page. I think this feature would be used most often for pulling live comments from a Facebook Live session or Twitter hashtag posts, and those worked properly for me.
Final Thoughts
Titler Live Complete 4 is a very powerful on-air graphics solution that is surprisingly affordable, easy to use, and easy to connect with several video switchers and data sources. I found it easy to figure out without any training, including customizing the look of the many graphic design templates. I did experience a few issues, but I was able to find solutions to them all as I’ve documented here.
