Video Review: Collaborative Editing in the Cloud with WeVideo
WeVideo is a cloud-based NLE that allows video editors to upload media files and edit them collaboratively or individually from any computer with a viable broadband connection, for HD export and sharing to YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, and Twitter. But is it powerful and versatile enough for professional editors?
Exporting Video
So now if you're ready to export, you get the dialog box shown in Figure 16 (below) that tells you how many export minutes you have left, as well as the option to export in 1080p, which you'll notice costs an extra $7.99.

When you export you have the option of exporting to YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Twitter, as well as through FTP or your WeVideo account (Figure 17, below). Save it to wherever you want.

Overall, WeVideo is an impressive online video editor. It does not, however, come close to being a full-featured professional video editor. It can get the job done for a lot of projects; it just depends on what your use is. The collaborative ability is nice if you need to edit with different people that are physically separated.
There's certainly a lot of potential here, and WeVideo has made a lot of additions to the applications since WeVideo first came to consumers, so we'll have to wait and see how WeVideo grows. The bottom line is WeVideo may work for some, but most professional video editors will require a more in-depth editor unless the advantages of cloud-based and remote collaboration is important enough to their work to compensate for the lack of some professional features.
