Review: Peak Design Capture PRO Auto-Latching Camera Plate System
The Peak Design Capture PRO system is great for "hybrid" shooters tasked with covering events where you need to have your camera at the ready at all times, such as walking around covering everything that happens at a large event, but still need to be able to quickly put it on the tripod for a speech or talking head.

The Peak Design Capture PRO system is great for "hybrid" shooters tasked with covering events where you need to have your camera at the ready at all times, such as walking around covering everything that happens at a large event, but still need to be able to quickly put it on the tripod for a speech or talking head.
Note that you'll need two clips--one on your belt, the second on the tripod--and at least one camera plate. Only the tripod one needs to be the Capture Pro with the threaded hole, which generally costs about $80. The one you wear can be the basic Capture clip which is about $20 cheaper, at $60.
I've seen more expensive systems that do less, so the prices are quite reasonable.
The system also works with camera straps and hand grips, both of which Peak Design also offers, using a quick-release, positive latching system of their own design. A quickly adjustable hand grip (Clutch) and bigger strap are currently their third Kickstarter campaign.
For run-and-gun shooting, the automatic-latching Capture Pro and Capture have earned a place in my DLSR kit, doing what no other system I have found can do.
DISCLOSURE:
I helped Kickstart the original Capture system with my own money. A Manfrotto-compatible Dualplate, and the new Capture PRO, were temporarily supplied by Peak Design for this review. I am not affiliated or partnered with Peak Design in any way--just a satisfied user.
