Rob is an intellectual property attorney and strategist focused on standard-essential technology.  For years, he has worked with participants in the video codec space - both contributors to codecs and codec implementers - to understand the value of codec-essential IP and to mitigate risk or to extract that value, including compliance with FRAND obligations.  He also works with patent pools on strategy.  Rob is the author of more than 40 published articles and book chapters, with his writing appearing in The Hill, The Economist, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, and many other places.  In 2022, Intellectual Asset Management Magazine named him to its Global Strategy 300 list of the top IP strategists in the world.
