Strategic Advisor
Sherry Brennan is a highly accomplished and award-winning media executive with expertise in emerging video trends & strategy, content licensing deals, content protection standards, and economics. She currently takes consulting projects, and is an Advisor to several startups in the streaming video space.
From 2005 to 2019, Ms. Brennan served as Senior Vice President, Distribution for Fox Networks Group, focused on content deals with emerging distribution partners such as Hulu and YouTubeTV, and as Fox’s business point person for its investment in Hulu. She evaluated new business models and new entrants requesting to license Fox’s TV portfolio, and handled all special markets deals (hotels, military bases, airlines, etc.). She managed the company’s content protection evaluations for new entrants and provided expert testimony in several copyright protection lawsuits including the high profile Aereo case, which was heard by the US Supreme Court. She also managed a strategic research group focused on keeping senior management informed about emerging video consumption trends, platforms, technological advances, and related developments.
Prior to joining Fox Network Group, Ms. Brennan was the Vice President, PPV & VOD with Cablevision System Corporation (1995-2003). In this role she negotiated all PPV and VOD license agreements including deals with all major studios, fight promoters, and aggregators. She was responsible for launching the industry-first SVOD services for “24” and “The Shield”. Ms. Brennan was later a Content Consultant for VOOM (2003-2005), the cable provider’s high-definition satellite service, where she negotiated all PPV agreements including new HDTV deals.
