David Ronca is the Director of Facebook’s Video Processing Team, part of the Video Infra org, and responsible for Facebook video products like Instagram, Live, Reels, and Watch.  Prior to Facebook, David spent 11 years at Netflix, as the founder and director of the Encoding Technologies team, where he drove many innovations such as inspection-driven workflows, complexity-based encoding, and VMAF.  David also drove the development of the Technical Emmy-winning global subtitle standard, “IMSC 1.1”.  David’s current passion is reducing the complexity, cost and power requirements of video processing; a top consumer of power in global data centers.
