Koetter drives production technology strategy & architecture for WarnerMedia’s Media Technology & Operations group with direct ownership of content creation systems within WarnerMedia’s News, Sports and Entertainment divisions. These systems that exist at the intersection of creativity and technology include edit, color, sound, visual effects, virtual worlds, record, edit, playback, journalism, production management, MAM & content archive. Michael and his team are currently leading the industry in the transition to fully virtualized, IP-accessible and cloud-based end-to-end production environments. In addition to his passion for media technology, Michael cares deeply about creating an environment of equity and inclusion within the company and our larger industry.
Prior to this role, Koetter lead key media technology initiatives in WM including CNN’s global transition to file-based production, the development and rollout of a globally integrated HD production environment & the creation of WarnerMedia’s first cloud-based media supply chain. Koetter and his team have been recognized for contributions to WarnerMedia and to the media industry through Broadcasting and Cable’s Technology Leadership Award, Broadcast Engineering’s Engineering Excellence Award, multiple IBC Innovation Awards and Technical Emmys.
