Macromedia Introduces Flash Video Kit

The Flash Video Kit also includes a lite version of Sorenson Squeeze 3 for Flash, so that Dreamweaver users will have a "basic video editor" installed on their machine, a standalone tool to convert to FLV files that includes DV capture. Additionally, it comes with a 15-day trial of a limited version of the Flash Video Streaming Service powered by VitalStream and a Flash Video primer. "We did a survey of our customers this summer, and found out many of them are excited about Flash Video but don’t quite know how to employ it," Hock says. "We’re really focusing on the folks who are very good at the Web but not so good at video."

Since its introduction in 2003, Flash Video has been embraced by rich media advertising creators, and it’s currently being used in campaigns by Adidas, the Discovery Channel, and salesforce.com. "Flash Video has really taken off in the last six months," Hock says. "We’re refocusing our video developer center to include new tutorials, including one about rich media ads."
