New MPEG-4 Webcaster Tops List of New Products at InfoComm 04
Show attendees got the first glimpse of the latest additions to Sonic Foundry’s Mediasite line, the VL400 and RL400. Designed specifically for video conferencing applications, the VL400 is a multi-channel recorder that captures and synchronizes audio and video in real-time as it makes presentations available for live or on-demand playback. Like other Mediasite products, the VL400—which is available in both a rackmount and tabletop configuration—also synchronizes presentation graphics and annotations with the A/V content. The RL400 is the name Sonic Foundry has given to the latest version of its Mediasite Live Web presentation system, and in addition to a smaller, lighter form factor, the company says it offers increased workflow flexibility and greater automation capability for recording and delivering rich media Web presentations.
Other notable new releases included the Soloist 3 Digital Media Server, a multimedia appliance from Adtec Digital that combines the functions of a digital video recorder, player, switcher, and server. Features include multiple-layer, multiple-region text and graphics overlays, advanced video scaling, and broadcast time delay.
Aurora Multimedia’s NX-Stream, an expansion module for the WACI NX control system, can encode and decode high- and standard-resolution MPEG-4 and MPEG-2 video with audio—including MP3 files—for digital signage and content-delivery systems.
