Streaming Media Readers' Choice Awards Voting Now Open

The call for nominations for the 2011 Streaming Media Readers' Choice Awards brought us more than 300 companies, products, and services for consideration, and even after we got rid of duplicate nominations and rejected some that weren't appropriate for their categories, there are still more than 220 nominations on this year's ballot.
Since we want the Readers' Choice Awards to be exactly what the name says, we purposely avoid adding any nominations of our own; i.e., if a company wasn't nominated, it's not on the ballot, no matter how evident it might seem (to some, at least) that it belongs on the list. Our take is that if not a single reader submitted a nomination for it, then it doesn't deserve to be considered in a Readers' Choice Awards program. Simple as that.
That said, we don't want to be too arbitrary about it. So if you see a glaring omission, plesae let us know at readerschoice@streamingmedia.com. We'll consider all reasonable requests. We also ended up removing several of the categories due to lack of reader interest; if you're not interested, then we're not.
We're under a tight schedule this year, so voting will only be open until Friday, October 21. We'll announce the finalists—the top three vote-getters in each category—on October 28, and will announce the winners at a luncheon at Streaming Media West in Los Angeles on Tuesday, November 8.
