WeVideo Makes Editing Social and Collaborative

WeVideo, a cloud-based service for collaborative video editing, launched today at the Demo Fall 2011 conference in Santa Clara, California.

The service's offerings include royalty-free audio, transitions, and graphics. Users can create on-screen titles and text for their videos, or add filters like grayscale and blur. Finished videos can easily be added to YouTube, Video, or other video sharing sites.

WeVideo wants its users to create online video communities, where multiple contributors can upload video and create finished results from the same set of assets. The service is accessible through a Web browser on a computer, smartphone, or tablet.

The service has four payment plans, starting with a free option that gets the user 1GB of storage and limits output to 360p resolution. Works are watermarked and can only be shared on Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo. The Plus level offers 10GB of storage and 480p resolution for $6.99 per month. Those who need high-definition output will have to pay $39.99 per month for the Ultra plan, which offers 50GB of storage and 720p or 1080p output. Finally, the Commercial plan adds in 24-hour support and commercial licensing.

The free-service Stroome also offers online collaborative video editing. It recently redesigned its interface for ease-of-use.
