Robert Hayes, senior VP and GM for Showtime Digital Media, gives us an example of how Showtime has embraced digital media to grow its business: "Showtime’s digital efforts are focused on advancing revenue through driving subscriptions and driving awareness of our programming." Showtime has used iTunes, website distribution, and interactive television to increase awareness of their programming and also generate subscriptions to their cable television service.
Simply answering "yes" to all of these questions doesn’t guarantee that you’ll make money, but it is an indication of the opportunity out there for you. Once you have content, an audience, and a plan, you can monetize your content directly or as part of a larger strategy for your company.
