Video: A First Look at the Boxee iPad App
First came Boxee on the computer, then on the Boxee Box.
Now Boxee is ready to make the leap into portability with its own Apple iPad app.
It sounds great, but the app isn't quite done yet. In fact, it won't be available until the second quarter of this year. Still, development was far enough along that Boxee was giving tours of the app to visitors at this year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
In this video, Boxee's vice president of marketing, Andrew Kippen, walks us through the upcoming app. Users will be able to stream some content off the Web directly, and other content stored on their home device.
Lets hope that Boxee is able to keep to its schedule this time.
It introduced the Boxee Box at CES in 2010, promising a summer delivery. Setbacks pushed the actual release date to November—well into the holiday shopping season. That delay gave Roku, Google, and Apple time to release their new set-top boxes first, taking headlines and sales from the Boxee Box.
No word on when an iPhone or Android app might follow.
