What is webfreetv.com?

webfreetv.com is a company offering short special interest video programs that are produced in-house. By webcasting unique dedicated content (through 11 Web-channels), webfreetv.com intends to establish its own 'Web-TV-culture', setting itself apart from traditional media providers. webfreetv.com's content is not for the traditional TV consumer, but for the Internet consumer.

What is EMC?

The technology that webfreetv.com uses for improving video quality is called EMC, which stands for Enhanced Mirroring Concept. It is based on the mirroring of content not only at some key servers, as it usually would be, but at many ISP servers simultaneously.

Deutsche Telekom (t-online) in Germany is one of the partners for EMC technology. England, Sweden and other European countries will follow soon.

The "mother" server is located in Vienna, Austria, where the company is headquarterd. In Germany, Webfreetv.com has approximately 75% coverage and it plans to operate a server in the U.S. later this year.

Who stands behind webfreetv.com?

webfreetv.com is a joint-stock corporation ("Aktiengesellschaft") and is financed exclusively through venture capital. It plans to IPO in the second half of 2000.

Roman Padiwy, CEO: "Currently our staff consists of approximately 60 employees, with an increasing tendency. Therefore we are moving to a new office, which has been designed specifically to fulfill our requirements. Very soon we will open so-called Flagship Stores (TV-studios with viewer participation) in Vienna and Berlin, the United Kingdom and Sweden. Our presence in the U.S. market is planned for the third or fourth quarter of the year 2001."
