Online Video Industry Forecast 2012: PowerStream
Confucius says, "Study the past, if you would divine the future." These are very smart words for the streaming industry. In the last 14 years, I have seen massive changes in our Industry. Throughout this time there have always been constants.
• A new video format has been released roughly every 3 years
• End user bandwidth has exponentially increased each year
• Video compression technology has steadily improved
• New web standards are released that never become “standards”
There's another quote, "All of this has happened before, and will happen again", I have no doubt of this.
What is the future of online video? Change!
You can say, "That's not very insightful!", however, understand that rapid change is inevitable. A future path for streaming will need to make sure that technology on the horizon will not legacy your current solution or investment.
