About.com To Allow Multimedia Searches Using StreamSearch

About (http://www.about.com) said Tuesday it is adding a multimedia search function in a deal with media portal StreamSearch.com ( http://www.streamsearch.com).

Visitors to About.com will be able to perform audio/video searches from StreamSearch's database of events and files. The function will go live in a few weeks, the companies said.

"There's a natural synergy between StreamSearch and About," said Rob Shambro, founder and CEO of StreamSearch.com. "This partnership will greatly increase the depth of search results delivered to customers of About, with the added new dimension of audio and video."

StreamSearch says its database of multimedia files increases by 25,000-50,000 links a week and is projected to exceed 5 million in 2001.
