Akamai and RealNetworks In Expanded Alliance

RealNetworks (http://www.realnetworks.com) and Akamai Technologies ( http://www.akamai.com) announced an expanded alliance where Akamai will deploy RealSystem G2 system-wide.

Akamai has a content delivery network and the FreeFlow Streaming service for speedier delivery of streaming media.

FreeFlow Streaming utilizes proprietary algorithms to make "intelligent" decisions about the best and most efficient Akamai edge server from which to deliver content to the end user. It also uses "SteadyStream" technology that splits streams across the Akamai network, and then recombines them at the edge of the Internet to recreate the streams into their original format.
