ArcTel, Siemens Team to Offer Broadband Wireless in Germany
Broadband communications company Teligent and its German partner, Mannesmann Arcor AG & Co., announced the selection of Siemens AG as the supplier of broadband wireless equipment for ArcTel, the Teligent-Arcor joint venture in Germany.
The installation of Siemens' broadband wireless equipment will enable ArcTel to offer German customers a wide range of access services, including Internet services as well as ISDN, together with frame relay and IP services.
Siemens will supply its Walkair Broadband Wireless Access radios and other equipment for ArcTel's fixed wireless networks throughout Germany, Europe's largest telecommunications market.
"We're very pleased to team up with Siemens as a strong general contractor to help us realize our plan to set up a large network in a very short time," said ArcTel chief executive officer Dr. Jan Rittaler.
In addition to its Walkair radios and electronic equipment, Siemens will provide ArcTel with comprehensive planning, installation and maintenance services. The joint venture intends to install its first base stations, an integral part of fixed wireless networks, by October.
