Coincident TV Offers Beta of HTML5 Video Editor
Adding HTML5 interactivity to video is going to be a hot feature, and Coincident TV is taking the lead by adding the feature to its Experience TV video editor. The software and the company launched at the NAB Show in April of this year. While the software is still in a closed beta trial, Coincident TV has added the ability to output HTML5 interactive video.
Experience Builder uses Coincident TV's Cue Point Language (CPL), similar to keyframing in a video editor, to let editors add interactive elements. Customers can build in elements like SMS messaging and overlays. A promotion with the Fox show Glee let viewers friend the characters in Facebook while they watched the video. To see a demonstration of the HTML5 abilities, use an iPad to browse to the Coincident TV homepage, then click the HTML5 iPad Demos link.
To join the beta program and test the software, request an invitation from the Coincident TV homepage. Once accepted, you'll get a link to a downloadable ZIP file. The software runs on Windows and Macintosh computers.
The program is intended to let people create an interactive iAd-like experience that will display on any device or computer. The Coincident file works with a CPL-aware player to deliver the correct enhanced video. The official launch is roughly a couple weeks away, said a Coincident TV representative. Pricing for the editor will start at $1,000 per license, while the player and the analytics component will each offer tiered pricing based on usage.
