ConnecTV Updates iOS App, Adds 6-Second Clipping and Sharing
Short videos are making waves, and second-screen companion service ConnecTV has taken note. Today ConnecTV launches version 3.0 of its free iOS app, adding the ability to create and customize six-second clips from live TV, a move that owes much to the rise of Vine and Instagram video, as well as animated GIFs.
TV viewers using the ConnecTV app on a second screen will be able to create clips showing highlights that they viewed. After selecting a six-second clip, viewers can customize it by putting words on top of it, and then share their clip via Twitter, Facebook, or email. ConnecTV says it will soon launch an Android version of this upgrade.
The ConnecTV app continues to offer the same second screen experience as before, providing information synchronized to the program or ad on the TV screen and letting viewers tweet and read tweets about the program they're watching.
“People are capturing and sharing millions of user generated TV clips online today, but not with the fun, quality, richness, and tune-in power of ConnecTV,” says ConnecTV CEO Ian Aaron. "Instead of tweeting, texting or posting a comment to your friends about that amazing moment on TV, now you can share it with ConnecTV.”
