CountingDown.com Launches Short Film Site
Film site CountingDown.com, said it is partnering with On2.com to launch Fusion, a short film destination area on Countingdown.com.
CountingDown is perhaps best known for trying to purchase the ailing Pop.com, a never-launched content site backed by Dreamworks and Ron Howard's Imagine Entertainment.
The Fusion site will feature over 50 short films encoded and displayed using On2's VP3 format. Fusion will also offer its short films in additional video formats, with On2 remastering and encoding all assets.
"The entertainment community continues to embrace On2's technology," said On2 president and CEO, Douglas McIntyre. "We are very pleased with our agreement with CountingDown.com and look forward to bringing new short films to the Internet in the highest possible quality."
"On2's full-screen technology was a perfect fit for Countingdown.com," said Countingdown's CEO Charles Segars. "We are looking forward to working with them."
CountingDown.com is a fan-run Web site dedicated to tracking unreleased movies. It was made popular during the launch of George Lucas' Star Wars Episode One movie.
The Fusion site will launch on February 15.
