D-Link Offers Remote for Boxee Viewing on Home Computers

Article Featured Image

Buy a Boxee Box set-top box and you'll also get a remote for comfy couch viewing. Use the Boxee software with a home computer and you'll have to keep a wireless keyboard and mouse nearby, or get up to change the program.

Until today, that is. D-Link has just announced the Boxee Remote Control, which works with Windows and Macintosh computers, giving users a simple way to control their Boxee software. Like the controller bundled with the Boxee Box, the Boxee Remote is two-sided: the obverse includes standard remote keys, while the reverse includes a full QWERTY keyboard.

D-Link's remote communicates with the host computer via an RF USB adapter, so it doesn't require a line of site as infrared remotes do.

"The Boxee Remote Control was one of the most talked about advances with the Boxee Box by D-Link. We're excited to bring it to all of the Boxee users who've built customized home media centers and want to get even more out of their Boxee software," says Andrew Kippen, vice president of marketing for Boxee.

The remote lists for $49.99 and is available from Amazon and other online stores. Amazon is currently selling it for $39.99.
