DaCast Announces Mobile Video Service, Partners With Akamai
Self-service video platform DaCast has partnered with Akamai to create a rich video streaming service for mobile devices. The service lets publishers upload live or on-demand video to their sites, and have that video play on iOS or Android devices. The service is part of DaCast's cloud offering, which offers do-it-yourself video management. It's available immediately for new and existing DaCast customers.
The mobile offering integrates Akamai's content delivery network (CDN) into DaCast's software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform. Akamai lets customers stream to any device and enjoy large geographic distribution, DaCast notes. The DaCast platform includes video player customization and revenue-generation features.
DaCast's advantage, the company says, is offering an affordable all-in-one solution with a mix of white label services. Customers can use pay-per-view features for mobile delivery, if they choose.
“The value of a video platform is its ability to reduce the technical complexity and a means to effectively deliver that content to an end viewer”, says Aldric Feuillebois, DaCast's CTO. “With this new agreement and our unique approach to video delivery, we have removed the last of the borders to allow our expansive broadcaster base to truly reach an audience regardless of individual setup, effectively overcoming the number one headache in the online video market today from the increasing rise of mobile devices.”
