Fantastic Acquires StarBurst from Adero

Data broadcasting company The Fantastic Corporation (www.fantastic.com) announced it was acquiring StarBurst technology from Adero ( www.adero.com). Fantastic will obtain the StarBurst software, associated technology patents, and customer base from Adero. Financial details were not released.

Fantastic said that the StarBurst OmniCast and Autosync technologies are "highly complementary" to its current products.

"The purchase of StarBurst software allows us to quickly strengthen our data delivery offerings in the enterprise segment, leading to new revenue streams and rapid return on investment," said Reto Braun, chairman and CEO of Fantastic. "Thanks to the close fit with our existing products, Fantastic and its worldwide partners will be able to offer solutions based on StarBurst software to customers almost immediately."

Adero acquired StarBurst software in March 2000 and embedded the software into its network for content distribution.

"Over the past year, OmniCast has successfully allowed us to offer new content delivery services to our customers," said Adero CEO Jonathan Crane. "With its emphasis on software development in this segment, the Fantastic Corporation is well positioned to provide the StarBurst customer base with long-term support and new and exciting content distribution solutions."

Fantastic provides streaming video, subscription and bandwidth management services to its customers.
