Fantastic Boosts Stake in Broadband Mobile Content Provider
The Fantastic Corporation has announced that it will increase its stake substantially in Worldzap, a provider of broadband sports and entertainment content for mobile devices. Fantastic will boost its share of the company to 41 percent from the 10 percent presently held.
Fantastic will buy the additional shares from co-founding company, the ETF Group, at nominal value. "We are impressed with the management and the performance of Worldzap and are confident that Worldzap will drive some of the most exciting developments in international mobile media," said Reto Braun, chairman and CEO of Fantastic. "Our increased stake in Worldzap is based on the synergies we see between our software, our customers' requests, and Worldzap's media offerings."
Worldzap implements a broadband delivery system to provide a combination of news, live action clips and sport results to the owners of a new generation of handheld mobile devices, and of cars with online entertainment systems. Premium services will be developed around the world's major sports and entertainment events.
Worldzap uses broadband distribution software from Fantastic for its content management, including the Channel Editorial Center for content aggregation and the Channel Management Center (CMC) for content play-out.
