Groovy Gecko Scores With Supergoals.com

Groovy Gecko (www.groovygecko.com), a European provider of streaming solutions, has teamed up with www.supergoals.com, an international soccer website, to stream advertisments. The website currently features three 10-second adverts, in conjunction with a campaign on primetime TV.

The ads were created to be humorous by the TBWA agency, and spotlight the British obsession with football. The ads are hosted and served by Groovy Gecko. One ad, for example, features a scene with a doctor saying to his Tottenham shirt wearing patient, "Say, Aaahhh...Arsenal FC are by far the greatest team theworld has ever seen..."

"Streaming media has proved to attract more visitors, increase the stickiness of websites, and encourage repeat hits. This is crucial to most online services, so we are seeing a marked increase in the number of agencies using both audio and video ad-streaming on websites, as part of the existing campaign," stated Gayle Macro, Groovy Gecko's marketing manager.

According to Groovy Gecko's figures the streaming media market will be worth $4 billion dollars in 2004, with 7 of the 10 top Internet accessing countries located in Europe. As websites and marketers express dissatisfaction in the returns they receive from simple banner ads, the market for streaming ads will strengthen.
