Hulu Unveils Destination for Super Bowl Ads Past and Present
Hulu is already the leader in online video advertising (according to many monthly comScore reports), so it makes sense that Hulu has introduced AdZone, a place to watch past and current Super Bowl ads.
As of this writing, the area only has two leaked and preview ads for 2012. That will change, as many agencies release Super Bowl ads ahead of time to capitalize on curiosity. Last year's The Force ad for Volkswagen ("Mini-Darth"), for example, was released early.
Besides 2012 ads, AdZone includes popular Super Bowl ads from previous years, including Apple's 1984 ad and Coke's Mean Joe Greene ad. Yes, Mini-Darth is there, too.
Hulu partnered with Advertising Age to create a section on the best celebrity Super Bowl ad appearances. Viewers can see Betty White get tackled for Snickers and Michael J. Fox dodge cars for Diet Pepsi. Why, they can even see Alec Baldwin shill for Hulu.
Other categories highlight babies and animals, as well as fan-made commercials.
Viewers are invited to vote on their favorite of the new ads, come game day. Hulu will announce the viewers' pick for the best ad of 2012 on Monday, February 6.
YouTube, by the way, will again spotlight Super Bowl ads (and game day recipes) at its Ad Blitz page. Last year, Ad Blitz alone generated 93 million video views for YouTube.
