Justin Bieber Kicks out Rihanna; Kim Kardashian Comes on Strong

It's time for another look at what we're searching for. Vuclip, a mobile video service, has been creating monthly reports on search trends. These results are only from Vuclip, which serves over 15 million videos each day to over 200 countries.

For August, 2011, the top searches were Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Harry Potter, Katy Perry, Shakira, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Naruto, and Britney Spears.

Compared to the July report, Justin Bieber took the number one spot away from Rihanna. Kim Kardashian wasn't in the top ten in July, so she's made a strong gain. Harry Potter slipped from two to four, and the late Michael Jackson also rose to the top ten.

Mobile video search is a growing area, and it's obviously dominated by younger people. As the category matures, it will be interesting to see if the top ten will reflect an older audience.

"Mobile video searching and viewing is rapidly growing as an everyday part of the lives of people all over the world," says Nickhil Jakatdar, co-founder and CEO of Vuclip. "We recently conducted a survey of our global users and of the more than 240,000 who responded within a ten day period, nearly 75 percent said they use Vuclip at least once per week to search for and view clips and 37 percent admitted to using it five or more times per week."
