Kyte Offers Boxee Distribution to Customers

Video platform Kyte now offers one more distribution avenue for clients: their own Boxee app. Kyte bills itself as a "360-degree social video platform" because publishers can use it to reach viewers on a variety of social networks and handhelds, including Apple, Android, BlackBerry, and Nokia devices. This is the first time, however, that Kyte's reach has extended to the living room.

"Boxee is the first of several Internet connected devices we plan to support in the future," says Gannon Hall, Kyte's COO.

Customers now have the option of creating a Boxee app to stream their video. Kyte offers a variety of channel templates as a starting point. Customers need to send whatever custom graphics they want to include to Kyte's designers, who will put them into the customized template and submit the new app to Boxee.

While there's a fee for the professional services needed to create the app, the customer's platform fee remains the same. There's no extra monthly charge for distributing to Boxee.

"Boxee is a fairly bleeding-edge platform, and it represents an interesting trend in how publishers can extend Internet content to the living room," says Hall.
