Listen.com Japan Launches

Listen.com and Trans Cosmos Inc, a Japanese Internet business development and joint venture firm, today launched Listen Japan KK . Listen Japan features links to downloadable and streaming tracks from several Japanese and Western artists.

Statistics indicate that Japan will have more than 26 million Internet users by the end of this year, making its Internet audience second in size only to that of the United States. Listen.com Japan is seeking to position itself in this market with the launch of its site and several strategic partnerships.

The company has announced relationships with twelve Japanese record labels and online music sites. The agreements are to facilitate reviews by Listen Japan's editors of artists working with those companies. The Artists will also be included in Listen Japan's directory. In addition, Listen.com Japan will work with J-Wave and Tower Records to make it easy for listeners to preview and buy new music.
