Listen.com to Acquire TuneTo.com

Listen.com announced it is acquiring TuneTo.com , a streaming media infrastructure company that helps improve audio quality for music services.

Terms of the deal between the two private companies were not disclosed but Listen.com CEO and founder Rob Reid said, "In the near term Listen.com believes that Internet radio will be the dominant platform which new technology services and devices will be built."

According to the company, TuneTo's technology provides near-CD, broadband quality streaming media using a hybrid system of streaming and caching supporting the MP3, Real Audio, Windows Media and other formats.

Originally launched as an online music directory, and backed by the Big 5 music conglomerates, Listen has increasingly entered the B2B syndication market. Last fall, Listen bought WiredPlanet to provide webcast services to record labels, online radio stations and other Web sites.
